The Imprimerie Nationale (IN Groupe) opens its doors for a weekend, offering a glimpse into the world of printing and printing. Within the Atelier du Livre d'Art & de l'Estampe (Workshop for Art Books and Prints), each artisan works daily to preserve and develop their expertise, sharing it with future generations. Heir to the legacy of the Royal Printing House, founded in 1640 by Louis XIII and Richelieu, this workshop now combines the preservation of a unique historical heritage with the production of artists' books. Come and discover this heritage and meet the artisans who keep the crafts of punch engraver, type founder, compositor, proofreader, letterpress printer, intaglio printer, and book manufacturer alive today. This will also be a rare opportunity to (re)discover our iconic books and our latest publications. On the program: discussions, demonstrations, discounted sales, and the chance to try your hand at composing! The Art Book & Printmaking Workshop is committed to being open to everyone. However, for safety and accessibility reasons, access for people with reduced mobility is unfortunately difficult (several steps to climb to access the Workshop, which is primarily a working space).
