The Arkéos archaeological museum reflects on 200,000 years of history, with a collection of more than 1,500 objects, that bears witness to the dynamism of archaeological research in the region. The combination of objects, films, models, multimedia terminals and tactile elements offers a fun and interactive way to discover the collection, adapted to all audiences and ages.
Accessible from the museum by a footbridge over the Scarpe, the archaeological park is entirely devoted to the Middle Ages, taking visitors right back to the year 1000. The Portus, reconstructed as it would have been a thousand years ago, houses ancient buildings re-imagined from the traces and remains discovered during archaeological excavations.

Outside the Portus, the tavern offers you the opportunity to prolong your experience of immersion in the Middle Ages by tasting medieval specialities: trenchers, Bourbonnaise pie, duck pâté with sage, venison stew, marzipan, tailli (a medieval cake with dried fruit), dariole (egg-custard filled puff pastry) ...

Soon, a carefully reconstructed medieval wooden castle will complete the park’s attractions.
