Going Green: Living in the Countryside of Northern Roman Gaul. This new temporary exhibition immerses you in the daily lives of the Gallo-Roman populations who lived in northern France 2,000 years ago. Between Gallic tradition and Roman modernity, their lifestyles reflect the richness and diversity of these two cultures. Settled in the countryside, these communities inhabited farms of various types, practiced subsistence farming, pastoralism, and crafts, and participated in the trade networks within the Roman Empire. This exhibition explores how, between Gallic heritage and innovations from Rome, rural inhabitants shaped original and diverse ways of life. Through the architecture of their farms, their agricultural, pastoral, and craft activities, as well as their participation in the trade networks within the Empire, visitors gain an understanding of the full cultural and economic richness of these rural communities. Designed to be accessible to all, this exhibition, an original creation by Arkéos, brings together remarkable archaeological objects, numerous illustrations, interactive digital displays, and hands-on games. Young visitors also have access to a free children's booklet designed to accompany and enrich their discovery. The exhibition explores the structure of the ancient landscape, forms of dwellings, the economy of rural settlements, daily life on farms, and finally, a laboratory area focused on ceramics.
