Description
Despite its name you won't find any horses near or inside the ‘Hippodrome’. Its name comes from the fact that in 1904, when the building opened, a number of circuses and other animal shows were held there. It is built in the purest neo-classical style: a magisterial entrance with columns, triangular pediment, cornice and frieze. It is not quite round... It is a dodecagon, with 12 sides! Today, the building is home to Tandem, a national theatre company offering a season of quality shows, music, dance and theatre.
