The story goes, a fire destroyed a farmer's barn. In despair, he made a pact with Satan: the building would be rebuilt before dawn in exchange for his soul. The farmer was remorseful and confessed everything to his wife, who had the idea of making the rooster crow before daybreak. Panic-stricken, Satan fled. But the next day, maddened by the deception, the Devil threw one of the stones from the barn into the neighbouring field... where it still stands today.
